WARNING: SPOILERS FOR NEW TRAILER
I have a couple of thoughts about this film. Most of them good and some not so good. I'll be talking about the things I enjoyed, my expectations, and then I'll get into some of my concerns. I won't be posting it all in one go and I will update it regularly as well as change some things.
1. The Trailer
I gotta say, I was pretty impressed with what we got. It's vague and kinda grusome, just the way it should be. I'm glad that the film isn't holding back from it's gory potential. For me that's what makes the Slender Man scary: the way it mutilated its victims. The creepy imagry and sound effects also made it felt like I was watching a new totheark video. A very wise choice.
I liked how the tentacles bursting out of the girl's eyes and mouth. It really got me thinking about what was going on. Is it a possessed victim? It is a form of murder? Maybe it's Slender Man disguised as a human like in the Original Mythos? I really hope it's the last one. There are so many parts of the OM that have been lost from the countless stories and games.
I'm also pleased that the film will not be found footage like Always Watching. Because honestly, I don't really like the whole found footage concept anymore. It's been used so much that it's pretty much become a cliche at this point. I know some people will not agree with this, but I'm happy that the film is going in the traditional horror movie direction. And from the looks of the trailer, I think it's working.
